Having a Crossfit

Yesterday my son Thatcher came to Bothell on business and stayed overnight with us. He

Getting it on the shoulder is just the beginning

is really into physical fitness and has a great set of workout equipment at home but when he comes here he has to improvise.

Out behind our house I have stashed, a Western Maple log, under the eves to keep it dry. Casting about for a workout he noticed my log and decided to incorporate it in to his workout.

Workout Plan

  • Lift log and put on shoulder
  • Carry it to end of 200 foot driveway
  • Drop it
  • Pick it up and put on other shoulder
  • Return
  • Drop it
  • Do 50 push-ups
  • Repeat 3 times for speed.

The log weighs about 145 pounds.

His time was 9 minutes 50 seconds.

When you come to visit you can try to beat

Just 200 feet or so to run

his time, if you like.

The 3rd set of push-ups is getting harder.

Is this thing getting heaver?

I think I will need to lose about 40 lbs, and then since it will take a while, maybe about 40 lbs of water will be evaporated from that massive log. I remember pulling that out of the gully after the Maple fell in that windstorm. As a result, I have about 40 lbs of emotional grief I will have to release as well. Maybe if I just start trying, all “120 lbs” can be lost at the same time!
